About Us

My strength comes from what people like to call "mom-isms." In a way, I play the role of "mom" to many of the students here. I put band-aids on their cuts, find their lost belongings, make sure they are eating right, help them get their homework finished, and assist them through their everyday struggles. I really enjoy taking care of students and being supportive as they learn and grow on their own.
The strongest desire that I have for these students is for them to develop a strong and growing relationship with Christ. I would also like to see each student have the desire to keep learning even after they leave Shepherds College. I love seeing our students get excited about their future because if they can get excited about becoming all that God wants them to be, then the sky's the limit!
People tell me that working in this kind of a community must be intimidating. But if they are interested in working with students with intellectual disabilities, I advise them to remain flexible! They need to be open to new experiences and remain ready to have fun. Giving the students a chance really opens your heart and in the end, you'll be learning just as much as they do. Taking time to celebrate the little things is the key to it all. Life can pick up and get busy really fast and if you forget to use the "pause" button, you'll miss out on the small miracles that happen here every day.
