Education and Skills Take Root

I am certain that working here at Shepherds College is God's plan for my life. I believe my purpose is to educate, inspire and serve people with disabilities by helping them enhance or improve their ability levels. Being around growing plants as well as involvement in their care is an empowering thing. Creativity and creation come together in a greenhouse and it is amazing to see students blossom here.

A Rich Garden of Experience

My previous experience of working with individuals with intellectual disabilities includes teaching art and physical education in a public school setting where all students are grouped together. At the Chicago Botanic Garden, I was the Coordinator of the Buehler Enabling Garden where I planned therapeutic sessions/demonstrations with professionals and groups with disabilities. I do volunteer work at Inspiration Ministries in Walworth, WI and enjoy carrying out a garden club with the residents. I have also had the privilege of volunteering with the Special Olympics.

Excitement is Like Miracle-Gro®

I will always remember the excitement of my first horticulture students at Shepherds College. I love how they left class and immediately started telling friends and staff what they just learned. I knew right then and there that they would always have a special place in my heart. This enthusiasm carries over into every area of their lives.
